I am the proud new owner of a Colt LE6920. As with any brand new item I purchase, I get a little bit obsessive about imperfections. It seems that a few letters in the words "Law Enforcement" and the entire abbreviated word, "cal." before 5.56 are lighter than the rest of the markings. To be honest, I'm most likely not going to do anything about it, but I was just wondering what options there would be as far as "fixing" the light letters. The only thing I can think of that will definitely solve the problem is a whole new lower, which really isn't a practical option for such a trivial and cosmetic flaw. A custom shop that specializes in gun engraving or just custom guns in general wouldn't be able to touch up the lettering and repair the finish that would inevitably be damagaed during the process, would they? Would Colt themselves do something about it? I have heard of people sending guns to them to be refinished. This really is a gun that is meant to be shot and not showcased, but I do plan on taking care of it as well as I possibly can. I placed this in Maintenence and Cleaning because I saw the post about the guy with the scratch on his receiver and it isn't really a problem that would be worthy of the Troubleshooting forum. I apoligize if this is in the wrong place, and I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this matter. |
| I have seen quite a few Colts with light roll marks. If it bothers you call Colt and see if they will swap lowers for you. I know Bushy would but we all know how Bushy's and Colt's customer service compares. Bushy replaced a lower for me that I was unhappy with. You paid for it (top dollar I am sure) so you should be happy with it. |
