What are the pros and cons in getting a light weight barrel besides the weight??? Do they get hotter than normal???

They will get hotter faster. But will supposedly cool down faster....which makes sense.

is there really much difference between a light weight barrel and a heavy?

The middle is M4. What kind of rifle are you going to be building? For a blaster with aimpoint or irons a lightweight barrel is a good choice.

well I'm on a tight budget and, I was thinking about doing one of these kits for my first AR.

Good barrels. Cheap furniture (handguards, grips, etc...)

I would reccomend getting a flat top upper(A3 A4) You will eventually get tired of that carry handle, and mounting optics on top of that suck in my opinion.

They have a removeable carry handle option.

I think it would be fine. I'd spring the extra $ for a Chrome Lined barrel with 5.56 NATO chamber, better feeding, ejection, and EZ to clean.

I have a light weight 16" bushmaster barrel and I really like it. You may want to spend the $35 for a float tube with bipod stud this takes all the pressure of a sling off the barrel for a bit more accuracy.

A very good friend of mine started with a M1sales kit. His only complaint was the handguards being "flimbsy."

And he ordered a kit without a Bolt and Carrier group, so I can't comment on those.

Check out Delton (one of our board sponsors) they have a great rep. here on ARFCOM and their prices will be similar.
