My wife, step daughter & grand daughter all like shooting the familys AR`s. They all also complain about the weight of the AR`s.
If a person was to build one from scratch with weight being a prime consideration how light of a complete rifle could be assembeled? Thanks! |

Quoted: About five pounds seems to be the wall. This one weighs in at 5.0 lbs.: http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s95/MMcfpd/lightweight_0709.jpg The Cav Arms MkII polymer lower and the pencil barrel are the two primary weight saving components. That is cool. What type of forearm is that? |

Thanks for all the replys, theyre all appreciated. I was hoping to get to 6 pounds witth no mag, looks like I can maybe beat that by a little. And the good part is, its for the women to shoot so she cant complauin about the $s. Might be a good chance to sneak in a few extras! |

One caveat with the CavArms lowers - they are not adjustable. If this rifle will be used by several people, especially youngsters or people of smaller stature, you might want to stick with a collapsible stock (if legal in your state).
A long arm with a stock that's too long is incredibly uncomfortable to shoot (I'm 5'2"). |
