After going the full "tactical" cycle, and adding so much crap to my rifle, I have decided it needs to go on a diet. I put a surefire m951 with larue mount, a larue fug, and an acog with doc in a larue mount on my gun, and it is a heavy turd!

I "need" to keep the optic, but I figure I can cut weight by losing the fug, and replacing it with a handstop. I want to run a light, but want to save weight. What is my best bet for a light(weight), light.

I am looking at the surefire mini scout, and also a x300. What say ye, oh wise hive?

I have a Surefire Scout - that thing is extremely light.  I think it is only 5 oz WITH the mount - not even the Executive Series flashligts are lighter than that once you get a mount. for them  Some people here swear by the Fenix TLR lights - small, compact and light.  I am a Surefire kool aide drinker, so naturally I'd say go with either the executive series flashlights or with the Scout.

I have also recently become a surefire koolaid drinker. I do carry a fenix, cant remember the model, but it is a 1 cr123 cell super bright chapstick sized beast of a light. I dont have to worry about it handling recoil though....

what about once you add a mount like the larue?
I am looking for a light package, light, batteries and mount.

You don't NEED the LaRue mount. If you plan on a 12 o'clock position, you cannot use the mount anyway since it adds too much height. However, if you do add it, you're probably going to be at 5.5 ounces or so.
A M300 Scout weighs about 5.5 ounces, and the M600c weighs about 6.5 ounces roughly.

Sreamlight TLR-3(2.32 oz with battery) at the 12'o clock position FTW....

I have a TLR1 C4 at 12 o' clock on one of my rifles, along with a T-1 in a Larue mount. If I didn't have a Redi-mag on the rifle it would really be lightweight. At least compared to my other carbine with a M951, NF NXS, and bipod.

So far, no issues with the TLR, plenty of light for my purposes, and it works every time.

I think I am sold on the x300. I am going to run it without a mount, just the way it came from the factory. I currently have a x200 that has been playing triple duty between my benelli m4, dsa sa58, and glock 19. It is so much lighter than my surefire m951, and has enough usable light for my purposes. I think I am going to go ahead and start acquiring a gang of x300s. Anyone have any experience with the pressure switches for them?

Yes. Just as you see it mounted including the battery.
