| Hi all. Recently I have decided to do a pinned 14.5 mid-length build. I really want something lightweight. I have put the lower together and am now looking at uppers and this seems like a good deal http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/complete-uppers/14-5/psa-14-7-cmv-mid-length-lighter-weight-chrome-lined-mp-upper.html. Just wondering what other's thoughts are on that upper? |

That's a fine upper. I'd also order an 11" Troy Alpha (whithout the integrated front sight), dremel down the FSB, chop off the delta ring, and install the Alpha. Badassedness right there. Google "Project Featherweight" for more info on the subject of badass lightweight ARs. Also, Arfcom user JoshAshton has a few threads about his REALLY lightweight builds... cool stuff. PLease don't forget to post pics of your build.
ETA: although I'd personally prefer a true 14.5" LW MID (DD or BCM) so you could pin on a SEI Vortex (for maximum flash-hiding performance) and still be at the minimum 16" length and not beyond. Makes for a very compact, great-handling, soft shooting setup. |
