Are lightweight barrels any less accurate than govt profile or M4 barrels?  If I'm plan on adding a railed forearm should I go with a lighweight barrel?  I'm still trying to learn about ARs and I appreciate any help.

No - at least not until they get real hot.  For most civvie use, a lightweight is fine, IMO.  The military made do with them until we adopted the A2 . . .

I have a Bushmaster Superlight with a 2 MOA dot Aimpoint and as long as I do my part, I have no trouble hitting a torso sized steel plate at 400 yards.  Accurate enough for my needs.

+1  I have a Bushy Superlight and a couple A1 uppers.  They all shoot straight.

As you probably know, the "government profile" barrel is relatively light under the handguard, so there's not a huge difference between the government profile (M16A2 on) and pencil (M16-M16A1) barrels, IMO.
