Does anyone know of a thumbsaver idea for these new 22 mags and loading them?

They sure suck a bit don't they.  What I do is I hold my ammo in my left hand and hold the mag against my body with my left forearm.    Then I pinch the round between my right thumb and index finger and press it in, rather than having my thumb pressing directly down on the top of it.  Hard to explain I guess.

I saw pics and posts of one that I think was made by Black Dog, BUT it was really expensive (like over $100 or so)...  Im not sure why the dont make it anymore

There have been some pretty ingenious homemade mods that make them easier to load.  If you look around in the "pistol and rimfire" section of the AR forum you should find them.

The Christie's loader is pretty good - $10, IIRC. It's not real fast but it is easier than using nothing but your fingers.  Sorry I don't have the link but a quick search of the Internet should locate it.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

Not legal advice, MHO, YMMV, etc.

Only the last two rounds are difficult. My wife loads all our mags and it's not a problem for her. Buy more mags and load all your mags before going to the range

Don't know why they just  don't come out with a design, Like S&W did with a button on the side of the magazine and a slot for you to push down on the follower while loading... very tried and true way to load a /22 mag... Sure works for Ruger and Browning .22 pistol magazines... and If I recall, S&W mags are the same price o a little cheaper them BDM magazines....

We sell the Christies loaders but the tap method has always worked well for me.

+1 This method is simple and works like a charm. Made my life much easier after I modded my mags this way, highly reccommended!
