DRMO? I know at one point the USMC did issue them to certain units. Which units, I do not recall. Defense Reutilization Management Office = DRMO Its how the military sells off excess/surplus/out-of-date equipment. You'd be surprised what pops up on DRMO auctions. Everything from modern office supplies to WWII field gear. I even saw 4 or 5 WWII 16inch naval gun barrels being sold off once. Down side is that they had to be cut into scrap by the new owner. |
| Just to clear things up with the DRMO program. They (the gov't) doesn't "sell" this stuff on the open market. An LE agency has to apply for equipment and meet certain administrative requirements prior to getting the stuff. The agency also pays for the shipping if they can't pick it up at one of the DRMO locations. Its more like a long term lease with the gov't option of recalling the equipment at any time. The agency has to do a yearly records audit on every piece of equipment procured thru the program with thier state's DRMO coordinator. The agency cannot sell off any of the equipment under any circumstances. For the first time in 20 yrs of having them my agency had to supply photographic proof of the M16A1's in our possession to the DRMO/state coordinator for this years audit. The program at one time had 1911's, M14's and M16's, Humvee's and an occassional APC comes up. We had one very small agency in our state take the DRMO 1911's they had and traded them in at the local cop shop for some new equipment. The cop shop owner didnt realize there was a problem with the equipment trade until the Feds come looking for thier guns when the Chief of that agency couldn't account for them. I don't believe he is the Chief anymore. If the equipment is ever recalled or no longer wanted by the agency, it needs to be returned in the same condition/configuration as when it was issued. |

That's the 'LESO (Law Enforcement Support Office) 1033' program (at least that's what it used to be called) in which excess military weapons & sensitive items are transferred to LE agencies. DRMO is the sale of non-sensitive and demilled sensitive items & weapons/parts that are sold (usually in lots) to the highest bidder through auction. Those SMG's were acquired through the 1033 program. |

You wouldn't happen to know what model Surefire that is (or the mount) would you? Surefire 6P Surefire Z32 Shock Bezel SureFire 660 Classic Universal WeaponLight (Barrel Mount) It's a straight 659 Classic (the 660 is the barrel mount version) - the 6P has different knurling on the body. The 1" ring is a simple Weaver ring, but is the Surefire M10 mount (the current version is slightly different) and the M16 FSB mount: http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/3442/tacticallightmountff6.jpg (Disregard the MS Paint circling - this was from Google Images) ~Augee Thanks Augee! My retro projects kinda got put on hold since I bought a motorcycle, but you guys just keep giving me new stuff to look for when I'm at funshows and hole-in-the-wall gunshops!

retro surefire mount and light too. might be a good time to offer them a free upgrade to m4 handguards and m4 stock and take those old parts off their hands. I believe they were actually called Laser Products before Surefire. That appears to be one of the early lights that they produced for LE and Military. |
DRMO used to have some really cool gear for us loser civvies!
But like all things govntmt related slowly over the years we have been trusted less n less. I once bought a pallet of 2500 NIW A1 triangle HG's all RH side, for only $550 bucks. I have heard they changed things around, and its more like a messed up eBay now! Gone are the days of $500 Duece n a halfs! |
