I'm looking for somekind of a lockable rack so I can mount it in a closet and In the middle of the night grab and run my AR. But I need it secure so I can leave it there and not worry about someone grabbing it. Its kind of like a duty rack in a cruiser of sorts. I dont know if anyone actually makes anything like this. |
Hmmm thats interesting. I like that four finger lock on the gun vault, too bad we couldnt set that kind of a lock. The cruiser rack is an idea, I gotta look at those and think a bit. |
From what I could tell, it would be a simple matter to drill the required size hole through the magazine stud to where a cable style gun lock could be passed through the trigger guard. This would prevent casual removal by kids or other non-authorized persons. Obviously, it would NOT prevent removal by a determined person.  For more security, a longer, stronger cable could be used that would wrap around the receiver/upper and be secured by a better lock (keyed or combo).  This would have to fit snug enough to prevent disengaging the AR from the mag stud, of course. One must remember that these brackets are fabricated from plastic and offer, as currently manufactured, very basic storage and are not designed for security. That would require the use of metal in the bracket.I am sure some of the clever folks on this forum can solve the security versus access issues to their satisfaction.
