| So I have a buffer tube and castle nut that I loctited with RED (like a dumbass). I know heat will break it free with a heat gun that i have. the high setting is 1000 degrees and the low is 750 degrees F. Question is how much heat can the lower receiver handle without compromising its strength, particularly the rear of the receiver that the buffer tube screws into. I am just affraid to apply too much heat and mess up my lower. I should of used blue loctite or none at all. And I know this will annoy many because I will bet money this thread has been around before. Thank you so much for your help. |

I would put it on the 750 setting and make passes to slowly heat it. The reciever will take time to heat up and the melting point of 7075-t6 is above 900 F. The red loctite will be liquid way before then.
In the future you should stake the castle nut if you're worried about it. |
