I think a great direction for our beloved AR is a platform that can be assembled / disassembled without the need for armor' s tools. What say y'all

I say Yes!
Great idea!

How 'bout one where you can take the barrel in-and-out in about 15 seconds, without tools, and uses normal off-the-shelf AR15 barrels?
And how 'bout one where you can even interchange magwells, so it can use AK47 mags when you convert it from 5.56 to 7.62x39, in a minute or two without tools? I think that would be cool!
And one that's all ready to drop in a Registered Drop-In Auto Sear too!
And an adjustable length railed freefloat handguard system, where you can quick-change the length of the handguard to suit the different lengths of barrels you put in, would be a really cool idea!
Of course, it would have to be made right, with 7075-T6 alloy, and Type III hard anodizing, and precision machining, staked carrier key, and accept mil-spec parts.
And I'd have to be able to order it off of ARFcom too!

Anybody know where I could get something like that?

I got it!!!!...we can make quick change barrels and rails that stay together so they wouldn't lose zero of the attachments. All we'd have to do is set it up so the rail and barrel stay together, and a receiver that would hold the BCG with the barrel so we wouldn't mix up bolts matched to the barrels. Then make it all pop together with a couple push pins.....
wait.....nevermind.....
as for magwell interchange...see  THIS LINK.

Just for a little clarification here, all kidding aside, here is the MGI Quick-Change-Barrel(QCB) upper receiver in its latest version.

It uses normal AR15 barrels, and can change barrels without tools in about 15 seconds.

We've been making this system for almost 4 years now, upgrading it as we go along.
It's the fastest system of its kind, has exemplary return-to-zero, and awesome inherent accuracy capability equal to a fixed barrel upper.
We also offer a handguard extension piece which sleeves and bolts onto the carbine-length handguard, so that you can use longer barrels and gas systems without the need to get a new handguard.

It's a perfect complement to the MGI Modular Lower Receiver with interchangeable magwells, so that caliber conversions are easy and quick, and use the proper magazines that are native to the caliber being used.
The MGI Modular Lower is a newer product which has been out about a year and a half now.
We are busy making new magwells and accessories for this modular system.

For an in-depth thread going on about this system, please click on this link to our thread on the "New AR Products" page.
