I have some complete lowers I plan on storing for a "rainy day" would it be advisable to break these down, in order to relieve the tension on springs, etc? or is this overkill?

I am a maintenance noob, sorry.

just relax the hammers.

I would also recommend applying some BreakFree Collector on the lowers, especially the steel parts. Collector is just the "P" from "CLP" and it's supposed to preserve guns from rust for up to five years.

I've only had Collector for about 3-4 months, so I can't say how long it works.
