I apologize in advance if this topic has been beaten to death over and over again...

But I'm looking for a scope for my AR with an A3 receiver.

My budget is about $300 max.

I don’t hunt but I do shoot coyote every once in a blue moon. I’m also not really into extreme precision marksman shooting.. I mostly just want a scope for plinking and seeing where my shots are going at long ranges (duh...).
But I don’t want to mount a piece of crap $40 ebay scope on my rifle either.

What are some reputable brands/models you guys recommend? Because everything else on my AR has kind of a “tactical” look to it and not a “range” look are there scopes available that might be more suitable on say, a combat rifle and not a competition rifle?
Sounds dumb I know but I’m just curious. I can’t afford an ACOG or anything but something in the same vein would be nice. Any surplus military scopes out there that mount on rails that are worth buying?
I’m not interested in a dot sight or anything either because I want something that magnifies.

Thanks

Are you looking for a variable scope power scope, what magnification range are you looking for, would you like target turrets, or Ballistic drop compensator?  Also what is the max distance you will most likely shoot?

good questions.
variable power would be a nice option because I don't have any plans on spending more money on BUIS incase I want to take the scope off when I'm out shooting.
magnification range doesn't need to be anything amazing.. just an "all around" range would be good (I haven't done much research yet...).
reticule, ballistic drop compensator and all that aren't too important.
I just shoot regular old .223 out in the desert so max distance doesn't need to be anything spectacular.
thanks
