I want to assemble a lower.  I know the majority of you can assemble a lower in the dark, however, I have never done anything like that before, and my question is, can a guy with no experience buy a stripped lower and a lower kit, and assemble it with no special tools or experience?  How difficult is it?

Thanks for the input,

I built my first last night, I picked up a set of brass punches and a small hammer

thats all needed

If you haven't yet, the guide in the build forum really made it easy

One tip that  figured out, firt\st thing to install is the trigger/disconnector, put it together, and slip the trigger guard roll pin in the pin hole, it is small, but it keeps them lined up, drop the assm. into the lower, then slide the trigger pin in, the roll pin will slide right out the other side, easy as pie

tip two, the front pivot pin detent, I slid a 1/4" punch(from my new set) in from the opposire side, dropped the spring in, dropped the detent in, pushed the detent down with my fingernail, and pushed my nail off the detent with the punch, then grabbed the pin and with the detent groove away from the detent, push the punch out and slide the pin into the hole, once its in the hole, rotate the pin and the detent will click and all will  be right(this worked, first try)

If you're mechanically inclined, go for it!  You'll have a much better understanding of how the rifle works and you'll have fun.

A few pointers:
*BUY A SET OF ROLL PIN PUNCHES.
*When installing the bolt catch roll pin, place a few index cards between the punch and the receiver so you don't scratch anything.
*Whenever dealing with a detent and spring, wear eye protection and do it someplace where you can find the detent after it goes sailing across the room.

Follow one of the online assembly guides and you'll be fine
