First, this is a polymer lower, I know you all hate them
It came almost complete, just need to install the stock.  Most videos and instructions don't talk about lubing the rear take down pin, detent, or buffer retainer.  One I saw did, and he used Tetra Gun Grease.  This being a polymer lower, what is recommended, that I can get in a local store?

Nice!  Going to grab a bottle of CLP as I see it is recommended more than good ole Hoppes I use on all my pistols.

i dont lube anything in my lowers.  it will only attract fouling and dirt.

I posted a question in the NFA industry forum asking this same question but they never responded. I would say if you have a polymer fcg and pins leave them dry. If you are using a metal lpk to complete a stripped lower I would lube the trigger and hammer pins (anywhere that has metal on metal).

while technically it won't attract dirt, it will trap it once it gets in there.

I never lube anything either.

I never lube the lower, that will just attract particles. There is nothing going on in their that requires lubrication, if you really wanted you could get those silicone lined springs from JP, but I think that is just small details and not needed.

*edit* attract / trap splitting hairs, it will give you unwanted results.

AR Lube Points
The Weapon Evolution diagram refers to oil....
Light, Generous, 1 Drop

Since I have Aero Shell 33MS on the bench for the barrel nut, that's my misc. grease as well.

What I grease on an AR...

Anything that is threaded
Takedown and pivot pin detent grooves
Selector detent groove
Trigger contact surfaces

I don't touch anything in the lower with grease/oil.

Ok ladies. Quite flirting.

Tons of ways to clean and lube. Check the Maintenance and Cleaning forum. Here you go.

For me... (if I may...), anything metal on metal friction gets lubed with Slip 2000 EWL. Anything steel gets a very thin wipe down with CLP for rust prevention. This happens when I buy the gun. After that, I only lube the BCG and shoot the fuck out of the gun. Most newbs break more stuff disassembling and cleaning, than if they would have just lubed the BCG and not cleaned anything at all.

If you use too much of any lube it gets all over, and junk sticks in the lube. A small amount on moving areas during assembly with removal of excess will not cause a problem.

If you're talking about ASSEMBLY grease, as in the use of a MIL-G21164 grease to install the receiver extension into the lower, I don't think you'd need that with a polymer lower.  The grease is to prevent galling and seizing between metal parts, so with a poly lower, that's sort of moot.  There may be different torque requirements for the extension in a poly lower, but you probably do not need grease.
