Really $150 to reanodize thats a ripoff. Just buy a nds lower. You have to remember, that is to strip, prep, and re-anodize the lower. A lower that is already "in the white" is only $100. I just cost me $180 (including shipping) to get my upper re-anodized. They had to strip the remaining part of the old finish before they could re-anodize it. It is well worth it to have it done right. Patriotrx, you may try to get a hold of Braceman (someone here should know how to contact him) to see if he can just touch up the areas that were engraved. This would eliminate having to get the whole lower re-anodized. |

The stripping procces dosent take long. They just havethe market monopolized. It can take a couple hours to blast an upper or lower receiver to the white inside and out. With a coating like Cerakote or Norrells maybe it could be mostly or partially blasted, but to reannodize it should be completely stripped. It takes time, it can't be done right cheaply. |

I respectfully disagree with you because I've called at least a dozen anodizers, local or otherwise and ALL of them have a minimum lot charge. Unless you have 10 or more pieces to anodize, they won't even talk to you on the phone, let alone give you a quote. Oh, that's if you want uppers and lowers anodized black. They won't even touch anything gray. So we're lucky that Victor is even "squeezing" in piece-meal work in XM gray for some of us on this forum. But this is America, you're free to do what you want to do with your money! |

I've done anodizing. While you can blast the anodizing off, it's easier to dissolve in with a NaOH solution. In addition, if the sand blaster is used for steel parts, the iron, iton oxide & other alloys in steel can theoretically screw up your anodizing. At least, that's what I read & was taught--I would welcome experience from someone who's done it to call BS if it is.
I find sand blasting easier, but that's me. I'm just too timid to try it, having been told it could screw up my anodizing. |

Made the calls and sent off a package to Victor (BTW - we still need to get our C7's together for a playdate...) |
