Are there any real differences from one manufacturer's build kit to another's? I'm looking for one that doesn't have a fire control group or grip. I've found a few. And although they look nearly identical, the prices are vastly different. Like one is $30 and another $89.

If you are buying it without a FCG or grip I wouldn't put much thought into it. I think PSA has one for a good price and it's GTG.

ETA: PSA kit. It has a grip but just don't use it. You can't beat it especially with free shipping.

I am a big fan of this kit. I ordered it by accident one time. It has a nice trigger for the price and it has an ambidextrous safety.

I just buy them complete for about $49 bucks and don't worry about it, I have so many grips hanging around here.

Yes there is a difference. Personally I like Stag or Armalite. I've also had good experience with Spikes and DD.

Anderson and CMMG are no go for me..

I have 11 different rifles with Anderson's in them and they all work just fine.

What is so different for the CMMG?  I have not used them, but always heard good reviews. Also the Anderson.

On personal experience DPMS and lately PSA lower parts kits are my good to go lower parts kit.

A RRA kit I recently used, had a trigger guard roll pin that I would not use (too tight and no clearance in the pin, it had no gap), I used another roll pin to complete that lower.

I do not recommend RRA lower parts kits, because of this.  Every other part was high quality IMO, but because of the trigger guard roll pin I would not recommend them!

Without the trigger parts generally not much difference.

I've used 3 PSA LPKs and one LBK, I've been pleased with them for the most part.

I did have one of the buffer retainers shear off though.

It was very obviously weaker than the others even at a glance, it was the only one I have like that.

I use Spikes on account of their style of roll pins. I've found the spiral pins to install much easier than the cheaper roll pins. My son just purchased a BCM kit. I have no doubt it'll be just fine. I was looking at a Black Rain Ordnance kit on their Web site the other day and they sell one for $239. That includes a Magpul MOE grip, set of KNS pins and their cassette type trigger. Now, the trigger alone is $199. So it may be a great deal considering the pins, grip and the rest of the LPK is $40.

Red Barn Armoury also has the option for you to pick what you want in your LPK .In case you want a certain grip and stuff you can usually spec it out there if you want. Just a thought, hope it helps.
