OK guys- let me start out by saying that I know you should only have the best scope you can afford. But my situation is that I have optics like that and have a rifle that I do not want to put a lot of money into optics and it will only be a range gun (like all of mine in reality).
Any one care to embarrass I had an Elbit Falcon on it, but moved that to a K2 Daewoo and realized the two are made for each other (can't break that relationship up). I have plenty of guns with “quality” optics should I never need a "SHTF" weapon (yea, right, there is as much chance of that as me hitting the lottery, or, being screwed to near death by 5 beautiful sexy young women that what to do an older fat boy for free)!), so I am not looking for optic for a “end of the world as we know it rifle”. So come on, there must be some recommendations! Years ago I bought a Red Star scope for an AR15. I paid about $100 for it and everyone I know gave me crap because it was not a Colt and a cHiNeSe knock-off. Well, after nearly 20 years, it is still bright, clear, and holds zero. Look exactly like the Colt 3X with the “Red Star” marking instead of the “Colt” on top. I will compare that scope to the Colt scopes, (which I have). The main difference is the price it took to purchase it. Lower price does not necessarily mean it is an instant piece of crapola. |

I am new to the AR ownership community and picked one up last November. Check out the optics at combathunting.com
I just purchased an illuminated 3X9 P4 sniper scope from them for $69. I know that is isn't "the best" but it should do for what I will be using it for––at least for now (2 kids in college) The Combathunting site has a wide variety of optics to choose from. Good Luck Don |
