Anyone use a LRB lower? Like this. Local shop has them for $100. Less than a PSA when I factor in shipping/transfer fees.
Would this lower serve as a good start for my first build? Thanks. |

Never used one myself but I've heard mixed reviews on the LRB's.
This is a good read....http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_12/318113_.html |

I've looked at these at our local gun show, they looked good and the ones I that looked at were machined by JV products. If it is available for immediate purchase I'd buy it. They're as good as RRA and way better than R-Guns.
JVP- mills for Double Star, LRB, Charles Daly |

Yes everyone knows that they are no longer in business, no news flash there. It doesn't change the fact that Charles Daly lowers were still milled by JV Products. Now what was your point? Doesn't appear you've added much to the discussion. Not a surprise there. You did what I've seen you do best, provide misinformation. You said "mills" which implies currently. I corrected you. Myself and the other poster are still waiting for you to explain your comment in the other thread where you basically said PSA uppers were crap compared to BCM. ETA: To further prove my point, you're saying that a product you've never used is as good as RRA and better than RGuns. Have you used either of these? Your opinion isn't adding anything either. |

Oh I see this is good old Tennessee pissin' match.
Let's see BCM has been the darling of ARFCOM for several years, attested top quality, PSA is the latest "flavor of the month". Never said PSA was crap, only that BCM is that much better. Sorry my cut and paste refects a listing recorded when CD was still in business. Sorry I didn't correct the verb. I guess I'm not that OCD. I have a wide selection of different lower receivers , from Colt to Spikes Tactical, with a couple of CMMGs and a couple of Essential arms. I have closely inspected RRA, R-guns and LRB lowers up close. An R-guns lower I wouldn't put on your guns and I don't even give a shit about your guns. The RRA lower is a good lower but I don't care for their rollmark, and yes I've inspected several RRA rifles and lowers. The LRB is a nice lower but again I'm not really hot on their rollmark either, not to mention that they were a bit pricey. For the right deal I wouldn't hesitate to use the LRB lower on a build. It's obvious that your problem with me is personal, I wish we had the opportunity to take it outside. |

I tried providing a fact as there are people that I'm sure do not know that Charles Daly is out of business and just wanted to make sure that any newbie that runs across this thread was aware of facts. I would use an LRB lower without hesitation and almost did back during the rush, but alas where I was going to get them from sold out before I could get my ducks in a row to order it. alto, I'm interested to see your research into how PSA is an inferior product compared to BCM. Have you taken them side by side and fired 20k rounds through each? Just because a company is new to the game doesn't mean they aren't as good as another company thats been doing it longer. There were people saying the same thing about BCM when they came out. "Theres no way these are as good as brand XYZ." I'm sorry that I provided a fact to the conversation while you only gave your opinion. I have no personal problem with you. You called me out there Chief and asked what I contributed to the discussion. I stated a fact and you got bent out of shape about it. If you're ever down here, hit me up. I'd love to grab a beer and talk guns with you. I have nothing more to say here and won't derail the OPs thread anymore. |

I currently have built 6 LRB lowers.
One made into a .22 LR One 9mm One .223, just received the upper from Model1 sales yesterday. (Not tested yet) Three waiting for uppers. All lowers went together with no problems, fit and form were good, no problems with assembly at all other than the occasional "boing" immediately followed by "Shit! where did that detent go?" Then two more in reserve. Will assemble if I get bored or find some NY neutered uppers reasonably priced. Many extra LPK's to assemble the last two. Traded two LRB's that were built into a .22LR and a .223 to a friend that had no problems with either one, other than finding the right .22 ammo to feed properly. I have not been reading the BIY area for long, but have not seen any posts about them til now. Where are you located? You can buy directly from LRB for a better price than most dealers. And yes they were built by JV precision in CT. Bill |
