Old school simple goodness.  Colt parts kit.  SAK nos barrel assembly.  Used a CMMG lower parts kit because the pins fit better.  Pics to follow.

SAK are USGI replacement barrels. Very good barrels.

Nice looking rifle OP.

Nice build. I do have one suggestion. That is to distress the lower so that it matches the upper a lot better.

They are good barrels. I have a late '70s USGI M16A1 upper on one of my builds that came with a SAK barrel on it.

Very nice.  Good, simple build.  Excellent representation of a classic rifle.
Well done.
Now let us know how she performs with that barrel--most of us would love to stumble across an NOS one!

Nice, I like the variations in shades of gray / black.  What slip ring is on there?  If you had a slightly worn flash hider it might look good on there, like the barrel was replaced and the old flash hider was re-used.

Thanks for the kind words and advice all.  The lower is "wet" and still smells like WD-40, I'm hoping with use and handling....but I have been reading old threads on patina.

Somebob, the slip ring is what came with the kit.  I assume it's Colt since everything else was.  Let me know what to look for if you need me to be more specific.  It's flat is as deep as my retro parts ID can go.

I hope to get it zeroed soon.  Until then I may have to watch old "SWAT" episodes.  I think this model also made appearances in "The Blues Brothers" and "Stripes".
