I am building an M16A4 Clone. I have already purchased an FNMI Barrel, FN Upper, FN Bolt Carrier Group, and I will probably just use a colt charging handle since its impossible to verify weather or not a CH is actually FN.

I plan to purchase a Colt complete A2 Stock Set, but I have a question. I dont know what else to buy :D

1: What sight system (BUIS or Carry Handle) would be correct? I was thinking maybe a KAC 600M but I wasnt sure

2: What lower would be closest to USGI issue. I was thinking a Colt A2 Govt Carbine Lower but any help is appreciated

3: Is there anything I am missing?

Thanks  :D

The rear sight depends on what service you are imitating.

I never saw a USMC A4 with anything but a carry handle or a TA31F RCO A4. One guy had a personal optic, a Leupold Mark IV.

I saw some Army ones with Aimpoints. Though most Army people I saw had M4s.

1: What sight system (BUIS or Carry Handle) would be correct? I was thinking maybe a KAC 600M but I wasnt sure. If you're doing a USMC A4 clone then the ACOG RCO-A4 would be most common rarely seen with a buis, however, some are using the Aimpoint in front of a Matech, KAC 600m or none at all. A carry handle would be appropriate as well. User preference.

2: What lower would be closest to USGI issue. I was thinking a Colt A2 Govt Carbine Lower but any help is appreciated. None unless you want to go the RR route but most lowers are lowers just the same. If you want it to say Colt with the pony on the right side of the magwell then buy a Colt. You won't find a stripped or complete lower unless you go through Specialized Armament. I think there may be others that carry their lowers separately but I do not recall.

3: Is there anything I am missing? KAC M5 RAS & VFG if you so choose & a 3-pt sling or whatever you're comfortable with. Maybe a nylon mag holder for the stock.

Thanks  :D

If you put an ACOG on it, the ONLY way it could be 100% authentic is if you attached the carry handle to the forwardmost portion of the bottom rail.

Correct. Trijicon no irons for most.

Army build:
KAC M-5 rail system(MWS)
The Army's MWS comes with a KAC vertical grip so you are right with or with out.
KAC or MaTech BUIS
Older ones had the detachable carry handle, but I don't believe they are purchased like that any more.

Optic M-68 (AimPoint M-2 or M-4)
or Trijicon TA31F

The A4 is on the way out for the Army, but you should still see them around for 4 or 5 more years as M-4's replace them.

Was that the FN from the EE? I saw that too, and wanted too pick it up. I use no irons on mine. I have a MATECH, but where I mount the ACOG, it would not allow enough space for the BUIS.

M16A4's are going to stick around for the Squad Designated Marksmen.

and there isn't REALLY an army standard, a lot of it has to do with individual units.  the ghetto units have a few with A2 handguards on them :)  (probably got deboed)

What kind of ACOG do you have?  I have a TA31F with a Troy under it and a TA01NSN with a MATECH under it.  Both BUIS's sit fine under the sights.

Here's one I put together after looking at a lot of action photos from a book on the Battle of Fallujah in 2004. Couldn't see a BUIS on any of the rifles in the photos.
RRA lower
Sabre Defense Gov't profile upper 1/7 with KAC M5 RAS and VFG
Ebay Hong Kong PEQ-2a clone
Ontario Knife USMC bayonet
Trijicon TA31F
Harris Bipod

Yes :D Two very lucky finds :D

OK So I will probably just use any old colt lower (since that would be most accurate) and I guess Ill have to get myself a Side Sling Swivel and TA31RCO-A4 :D I have an M5 RAS Already, forgot to mention that :D

Anything else?

I think he means he mounts the ACOG as far back on the top rail as he can, leaving no slots open for a buis.

anyway, as many have said the M16A4 is different depending on what branch you're trying to replicate.

Also, I will probably buy a carry handle regardless, anyone know if FN made F or FN marked Carry Handles?

Will be tough to find :D

I used a Specter 3 point sling that attaches to the regular under FSB mount like the one in the photo.

Yep, I have to mount just about all the way back to get the proper eye relief with my nose-to-charging handle. I am using the TA31RCO-A4 with the Larue mount. I am thinking about getting the new Larue mount for it.

My unit still uses the M16A2.Well in about 8 days or whenever we go to the range I guess we will see if we got new stuff yet.

I went with the matech BUIS. I like how it ranges out and it was $70.

Man you got BRD bad!

Good Luck with the build. Mine is easily my favorite rifle as far as shooting and handling goes.

I have BRD and I just caught a nasty case of AKD (if that is the correct term) I have a Drill Press, Shop Press, 8 parts kits, and a big order from AK builder on the way :D

Sounds like FRD to me (F=fun), and a bad case.  You just got done with that Noveske... nice.  Now this...

I'd just get the RCO (LaRue if you want it QD flavored - otherwise eBay, other shops if you're being cheap)
THEN see where you'd mount it for proper eye relief.  I'm probably going to end up mounting a KAC 300m in front of mine for my carbine, because I need it too far back to place the BUIS behind the ACOG.

I would worry less about the parts content - the FN barrel, upper should be adequate - any charging handle will do.

OKC3S is definitely a must have if you want a nice bayo...
VFG, and the Surefire 962 would also be a nice to have on there.

You could get a 80% lower . Have it finished then have the FN roll mark engraved along with the safe , semi and burst put on .  Get a F/A selector and have it milled out for semi only . This way it would still move to the burst postion  but would no longer be a F/A part .

I have an ACOG on my M4gery . So I went with this optic  for now .
Colt , KAC and the MIAD
