Have a KAC M16A4 handguard, KAC rear sight, pistol grip, and A2 buttstock so Im "almost" there ;-)
want this lower http://www.jdmachinetech.com/shop-jd/556-forged-jd-lower-receiver as for upper just something without the mfgr's name on it in a government profile A4 is on my short list or AR-todo's |

but the A4 is my Windham Weaponry Government Rifle with a 1:7 gov't profile barrel now wearing a KAC M5 RAS and a TA31F---yeah its not an A4RCO but I picked it up on a trade fairly cheap 
started out looking like this

Looking at most of the pictures they seem to be of later USMC A4s with ACOGs. When the army used them prior to switching to the M4 what optic was in common use? CCO? Eotech? ACOG?

Has anyone heard anything about the release of FN's Military Collector series? I read that it would be in the fall, but a Google search reveals nothing new since it was announced back in the springtime.
I don't suppose anyone has an inside scoop? |

The M68CCO (Aimpoint CompM and CompM2) would have been "standard" at the time, along with the TA31F, but once GWOT hit, just like with the M4s, a lot of units used discretionary funds to buy a lot of different types of optics and accessories. You can find just about anything that existed during that time period in photos from the 2003-2007-ish timeframe. After that, the Army started getting a better handle on standardization of accessories and getting them fielded to units (negating continued use of Operational Needs and other discretionary funding sources outside of the normal procurement channels), though there's still a lot of random stuff floating around out there. 
The SDM-R made a lot of sense when the Mech MTOE specified M16A4s - as the SDM-R would be virtually indistinguishable from an M16A4 at range. ~Augee |

I only saw one on GB and it was not a factory collectors model (A4 Clone). It had the wrong lower and no BUIS. The rest were patrol carbines, DMR/sporting and tacticals. We just started building the 20" clone last month and M4 a few days ago. I'm not sure how long it will take to get them out to the dealers but they are very nice looking AR's. . |

We just started building the 20" clone last month and M4 a few days ago. I'm not sure how long it will take to get them out to the dealers but they are very nice looking AR's. . Cool, thanks. Too bad I can't come pick one up from the factory.

I also got this SMG from the same Colt employee. I know a little about a lot, but 2 heads are better than 1. And 100 AR/M16 guru heads are waaaay better than 1 ;).

I'm glad I can finally post a pic of my newly assembled A4 clone. Two months of culling together the uppers parts, a 1/2 day of sandblasting, Parkerizing the barrel assemblies (also refinished my A2 build), and a 1/2 hour of assembly.
