| What kind of accuracy is M193 capable of achieving if you are shooting it out of an accurate varmint rifle that will say shoot 1/2 MOA with hand loads? Thanks |

I haven't tried it myself, but I would bet no where near 1/2". At what distance? You may want to read the Ammo Oracle. There's a write up on the accuracy of both the M193 & M855's. I've just gotten through my first 250 rounds of M193 myself, and I really like this round alot. I can see why so many people make this their round of choice. The AR15 takes up recoil so well the added BOOM of the 5.56MM round (as opposed to the .223's) wasn't really noticable. The rounds shot relatively clean (cleaner than I expected) and were more than enough accurate for my 14.5" Bushmaster. But I'm not target shooting, or distance shooting and the 55gr M193's suit me fine. You may want a heavier bullet for varmit shooting. |
| With my 16" chrome lined bbl. the M193 shoots 2.5" at 100 yds. using an ACOG TA-01. The best groups are about 1.5" and the worst around 3.5". Winchester "white box" is a little worse. My 68 gr. HPBT handloads run consistently at 0.8", sometimes opening up to 1.3" using the same setup. My 20" HBAR does a little better with factory ammo, but it has always been unusually accurate. I like the M193 round. I would say that the accuracy inherent to the M193 is more than adequate for fun at the range and for self-defense use in the average AR. YMMV. |

The Winchester Q3131A version M193 gets sub MOA accuracy out to 200 yards in my CR6724, that's less than 1" 5 shot groups at 100 yard and less than 2" 5 shot groups at 200 yards. Normal 5-10 shot groups outta the CR6724 at 100 yards using my 77grn. SMK reloads is sub 1/2 MOA. Mike |
