A clone of the rifle I carried in Iraq sans the M203. Built on a Palmetto M4 Carbine lower, Colt T marked upper, CMMG 14.7” barrel with a p&w fh. Colt CAR15 4 position buttstock, Knights Armament RAS, a TA31 RCO M4 in place of the TA31F I was issued, and I added a Matech buis even though my issued one didn’t have a buis.

Did this thread die? I'm going to ask my question anyhow and hope for an answer. Can anyone tell me about the earlier dd m4a1 ris ii? In particular, we're they fielded and if so by whom mainly? And if so, would it have been more common to find them paired with government profiled barreled or socom profiled barrels? Here is a pic of the version I am referring to. The notable difference is the presence of vent holes in the forward lower part of the rail. I believe they may have changed the design due to bends in the lower portion as a result of weakness from not enough material. That, or they were too hot for holding with vents in that location. (That last part was a thought I just had).

Is a FSB side sling mount appropriate for a 14.5” m4 carbine with CAR handguards instead of a RAS rail?
Seems I only see the side sling mount in conjunction with a RAS |
