Man I have been looking for that exact A.R.M.S. rail for about two years now. What model is it exactly? I know it is a #58 but there were two or three variants.

Unit may require it due to purchase price?  Only reason I could think of, unless the scan tag there is attached to the full upper.

DoD policy is that anything costing more than a certain amount is required to go on property books, so the tag likely is an accountability barcode for the unit property custodian.

Didn't I state they belonged to the Czechs, same as the AGS-17s.  Teams have the Mossbergs or Benelli M4s.

Believe its for the 14.5" URG upper to be tracked since the upper receiver is serial numbered, supply had the bar code attached somewhere on the other side so both can be scanned.

Comparison between a M4A1 with 14.5" bbl and suppressor compared next to a British 1856 .577 Calvary Carbine that was used by both sides during the War Between States.  Swinging arm on ram rod was to prevent loss while on horseback.  There is a saddle ring on left side of stock which attaches to a hook on slung belt over shoulder.  Therefore single points slings are not NEW!

Just finished my build, Block 1, and sighted it in last week. Now I just need to get a sling. Which sling would be more correct the Vickers  VCAS-125 or VCAS-125-AA standard issue with buckle?

A block I would be a USGI silent sling in my opinion (95-05').  VCAS would be along later for a 1.5 or 2.  Either is personal preference however.

I prefer the N1 stock over the Waffle stock.  Had it on my XM177E1 back in 87' and my first M4A1 in early 95'.

I used to as well.  The CAR stock was what my first several M4/AR15's had, and was my favorite stock for a long time.  Then I went to the various SOPMOD stocks, settling on the B5.

I recently got my first factory new rifle in a long time (been building all of them for several years) and it came with the waffle stock, and I was shocked at how much I like it!  Threw me for a loop.  The angle of the butt really seats well, and it works great with armor.

Had one in my first unit. They had some really old weapons there and this was before 9/11 went down. After that, we got a lot of upgrades.

theres an archived thread that shares some things to look for. The biggest one that i remember, is the N1 and govt. contract ones will have a 'flare' at bottom of the toe (that angle piece from bottom of shoulder pad to the adjuster lever), it will have ridges on it... if you get what i mean. The copies from M&A and the used ones from thoroughbred are just straight, or flat, there's no lip at the bottom of that angled piece.

at any rate, a 25 dollar M&A copy doesnt seem terrible..
