What is the point of the doubble heat sheilds in the m4 handguards. A guy at my local shop says there to cool the barrel faster. The metal sheilds  cover up the vent holes so I dont see how it can cool faster. Thanks for any info

They're supposed to keep your hands cooler, not the barrel.

Much more important with a lot of auto/burst fire. Not so with semi.
