I am currently building an m4 clone, so far I have a base 6920 and had the barrel changed out to a colt 16 inch with the heavier contour. Does it have to be the 14.5 colt barrel to be correct or is the 16 fine? I have Knights buis, kac rail system, Colt side sling mount, aimpoint pro optic and larue cantilever mount on the way. Am I doing this correctly or do I need to change anything or add? Thanks for the help

The correct barrel for an M4 clone would be a 14.5".

You can pin/weld a A2X on it, or have this done to your 16" barrel. : https://www.specializedarmament.com/content/skins/flat/14-5_bbl_16_bbl.htm
Ken machines the 16" barrel to 14.5" and fits his custom A2 comp, machines it all pretty, and refinished. He even re-roll marks the barrel properly. All for about the same cost as a new 14.5" barrel.

I had Ken do this to a 6940 of mine, and it looks amazing. Very cool piece of machine work.

Send it to ADCO.......they will hook you up, and their turnaround time is less than a week.

I'd have adco cut it to 14.7 with a pinned A2

The barrel on top is a Colt factory 6944 I had Adco pin and weld an A2X onto. The bottom one is a Colt 6940 barrel that Ken cut down to 14.5" and made legal.

Ken will properly re-roll mark the barrel as part of the service. If you get a 16" barrel cut down and reprofiled to 14.5 or 14.7", you will lose the factory roll marks, if that's important to you.

Ok will get the barrel corrected, are all the other parts correct?

Depends on units that were issued the M4 and the time frame. Some units were issued ACOGS. Other Aimpoints or Eotechs. Some things, such as slings, could be individual preference.
KAC M4 handguards were almost universal.
All M4 barrels were 14.5".

I agree with the others about having the barrel corrected to 14.5". From the description that you are giving, your M4 will be set up much the same as this one of mine with a couple exceptions.

Are you going for a SOPMOD Block I or standard issue clone?  Your list sounds pretty close and the 6920 is a good rifle to build a clone off of.  If your 16" barrel is new I would probably sell it vs having it cut down.  I would then buy a factory colt 14.5" barrel in either govt or socom profile and either pin/weld an A2X or a standard A2 with a spacer.  The Aimpoint PRO is not the correct Aimpoint model, the Comp M2 is, but physically looks the same and many clones including mine use one instead.  I'm sure Larue mounts have been seen in the wild but they are not the issue mount if that matters to you.  It's either the standard QRP mount (not the QRP2 that comes with the PRO) or for the Block I the Wilcox mount.  Good luck and welcome to cloning, prepare to get sucked in.

Get it chopped to 14.5 and either SBR or pin/weld. 16" barrels are frowned upon in the clone threads. Also the Aimpoint PRO isn't an issued Aimpoint, but it looks like one that is.
