So i have a m4 stock on my AR. It's a model 1 stock (will never by from them again) and a bushmaster lower. So here is the problem, depending were the stock is positioned, when you pull the charging handle it hits the top of the stock, witch is a real pain...

any suggestion would be nice, and yes i know i could get a new stock..... not the suggestion i was looking for.

maybe i should change the buffer tube nut?

thanks

It's hitting the top of the plastic stock? Why change the buffer tube nut? Can you post a pic?

I thought maybe it would lift the charging handle up enough to clear the stock. yes and it's hitting the top of the plastic stock.

so it's kinda hard to see, but it does hit enough to stop you from pulling the handle all the way back.

Remove the stock and remove a small amount of material from the area on the stock where the CH is hitting. I just went out and looked at all of mine and they are slightly contacting the CH but not enough to catch. Mine are all SOPMOD stocks and are beveled at the front.

So not to sound stupid, but how do i take the stock off the buffer tube???

Grab the adjusment latch by the front end and pull it away from the tube while sliding the stock off the tube. That's a pretty severe lip you can either bevel it or send the pick to Model 1 and I'm sure they will send you another one.

Pull down on the rear of the stock adjust (quite a bit). The stock will slide right off. Installation is the reverse.

Stocks are pretty much interchangeable just need to order a mil-spec or commercial version to go with the mil-spec or commecial tube. To see what you have measure the tube.

I have one in my cabinet. It has a stock saddle on from CAA. I use it to collect dust. I took it off my Bushy and I am using a VLTOR Emod and I also have a Magpul CTR. I like changing stuff around for looks and application. If you need the M4 stock IM me (cheap). I really don't need it. Take care.

Darn who is the company that sold you that? Sucks. What upper you are using with the bushy lower?

Model 1 sales made the stock, the upper is also model 1.

In other words, you bought based on price.

My experience is that in the AR world, low price equals a high risk of low quality.

Now even the price cutters turn out a good item once in awhile, and even the top brands will turn out a turkey now and then.  The difference seems to be that the top brands will make right what they screw up while the el cheapo boys tend to want to tell you it was all your fault.

Could you give some detail on why you won't buy from them again.

Well the basic quality of the kit was a little poor. For example: the rear sight appature will not go down to 8/3-2, only 8/3. The lower parts kit was total crap (bolt catch wouldn’t work on last round, not pressure on the selector switch) and I replaced it with a bushmaster one. The bolt carrier is not to spec witch cases a problem with the charging hand release (another post read http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=418619 .) The stock problem. The bolt gas rings came apart when I was shooting it and cased a malfunction.

On the good side besides the gas ring problem, I have never had a jam.

keep in mind I bought this kit 41/2 ears ago maybe things have changed

WOW...first time I have seen this.  I don't know what the problem is...but you do have a problem.  It could be that the buffer tube hole in the lower was not bored at the correct angle and it has your buffert tube angled up slightly.  The charging handle and the buffer tube should be parallel to one another.

Yeah that does sound like the problem.
