1st off, Thanks for your service and sharing a really nice looking build!![]() Maybe a slightly out of spec LPK? I seem to recall mine dragged for a while when holding the trigger back and charging the weapon to check for reset...it eventually cleared up and functions well now. I doubt you are in Central OR? I have a spare trigger/hammer if you wanted to try them... |

GhostRing - Thanks! The only reason I suspect the LPK is I can't imagine what else it would be... and it is a Model 1 LPK so the stories of bad quality from them make me wonder. The trigger seems fairly heavy too so I'm tempted to just throw a new trigger group/hammer in and see if it changes anything. I'll put some more rounds through it for now and see if it frees up at all. Right now it only has 30 rounds downrange so maybe it will. Im in Salem BTW. |

I've used RRA, CMT, and M1S trigger & hammers, and the CMT was the nicest so far... I had my issues with a RRA 2 stage dragging on the carrier. Everything functioned fine (very important!), but it took a handful of mags to smooth everything out. Heck, if it doesn't solve the issue, all it takes is a few parts to start another build! |
It's not quite as noticeable in person (in fact I never did notice until just now), but yea, it is kinda off in color. Don't wanna change it though because it's the same sight I had in Iraq for the majority of my year there. I initially was issued the Matech BUIS and I hated it so I got the GGG A2. And no need to thank me for serving, it was my pleasure and an honor to do so (the kind words are appreciated though).

| Is the carrier you have shrouded or unshrouded? I remember hearing about the unshrouded carriers dragging, infact mine does the same thing your talking about, but mine is an old xm177 clone. The auto carrier you would have had in Iraq would have had the shroud I would think, and if your new one doesn't maybe thats it. |
actually now that i looked at my GGG MAD buis...the windage knob is purple on it too...it's quit easy to see on mine under certain light...oh well...it works great and i love it. i heard a lot of bad things about the matech and i can't imagine trying to use it when my life depended on it. |
What I was thinking to... Mike |
The carrier is a full auto carrier from CMMG, so it is shrouded. I've noticed some LPKs come with hammers that are smooth on the corner and some have a notch, what's the diff? Mine has a notched corner... |
I just plain didn't like the Matech. Some people seem to love them, but not I. I saw no reason to have an iron sight for 600 yards on my M4 and I didn't trust the durability of the design. Some guys that used them all year in my unit had issues with the sight not staying in the down position, due to the mechanism wearing out I think. No issues with the GGG A2 sight though... love it. |

Nice build, what is the accuracy from a 14.7" barrel at 100yds? I have a complete lower that needs something on top of it. I was thinking of a 18" SPR, but I like the look of your setup and would like to know how the shorter barrel affects accuracy at the 100, 200 yard range. |
My DPMS LPK has no notch inthe hammer. My RB Precision kit does have the notch. I see no difference in my usage, but I have heard the notch is to prevent the hammer from "hanging" on the firing pin (like getting lodged in between the head of the firing pin and the carrier). Not sure how that could happen, but it seems to have warranted many manufacturer's LPKs having the notch.
