| How come most of the M4gerys might as well be called carbines?? I can understand the barrel length, and, of course, the receiver, but a shorter stock should be available. Or is this just a drive to look cool and still have a shoulder fired rifle?? |
| I don't get what you're trying to say. M4s *are* carbines. Most pe-ban M4geries have collapsable stocks, just like the majority of the real M4s. Post-ban rifles can't have coll. stocks and you have to have a stock that is a uable length. Some people go for fixed car-style stocks for the look, others use regular A1 or A2 stocks which is still authentic because many operators prefer a fixed stock even on a short barreled weapon. Still other go for some of the newer stocks that are shorter and/or lighter. |

Quoted: the M4gery is for CQB, yet they are still swinging a 30" rifle compared to a 34" rifle with a 20" barrel. The legal limit is 26", so why not a shorter stock?? I think if you measure your 20" barrel on the rifle you'll find it is much longer than 34" total. Even more if it has a flash hider. The legal limit for OAL is 26" but there are other considerations. Unless you want to deal with NFA you need 16" of barrel & attachment. The lower receiver adds about 8" more. Now you need room for the buffer & spring which is shorter on the collapsable stock. Which part of this should we do away with to make it shorter? |
