I haven't seen this mounted this way anywhere else, I thought it might be a problem.  The Surefire M971 is a big light.  I have it mounted on my 20 inch barrel, attached to a rail in front of the forearm.  It occurred to me that the lens of the light is only about one inch behind the flash suppressor.  I have visions of it exploding with the first round fired, destroyed by the  muzzle flash.  Am I right?  I can always mount it  on my M4, which I am sure would be safe.  Thanks in advance, I really don't know if this is a bad set up or not and don't want to ruin a great light.http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a231/Midstreamlmf/fores.jpg

If you look at your FH it has no bottom slots from what I can see. You are fine with the light there. Plus the light can take a beating. You may have carbon residue that will come off with cleaning.
