Hello!
I just obtained a GGG MAD bius for my first pistol build, and when installing, it seemed that I had to keep turning the mounting screw too far. I had my torque wrench set for 20 inch-pounds as per the manufacturer's spec, but I stopped before I got to that point since the bracket (?) on the left side of the sight seemed to be sliding downward and almost out of solid engagement with the bevel on the sight body, and it looked as if it were very slightly bowed where the head of the mounting screw contacts it. By the way, the upper is a DPMS Kitty Kat, with square forge mark. Any thoughts or experience like this? Thanks! |

I never use a torque wrench on BUIS. The one and only time I did was on a GG&G front BUIS.
The torque point never really hit, as I felt the threads about to strip I quit. I took it off and they were very deformed. I put Loctite green bearing mount on the threads and hand tightened it, knowing it was going to be a never get off without destroying installation! That was the very last time I tried to torque something like that! You may have heard the "tighten it until it strips the threads, then back off 1/4 turn". That is pretty much what happened. Thanks to loctite it did not end up in the trash. |
