I have a Stag 2H Upper that came with the MI rear sight. I went to zero the sights yesterday at a 25 yard indoor range. I got it to shoot pretty good at 25 yards off the bench using just my arms for support as I had no sand bags or a rest to shoot from.(see target pic below) Dead on center and approx 1 1/2 inch low for 25 yards. My question is that I had to move my rear sight windage adjustment way to the right to center my shoots. Well, you could try removing then reinstalling the BUIS. But, more than likely, when people have excessive windage during zero it’s because their barrels indexing is off. In a nut shell: Your barrel is canted to one side in your upper receiver requiring excessive windage to zero. To correct this you will need to loosen the barrel nut, then torque it back down ensuring the barrel remains centered within the upper receiver. A possible “quick-fix” that might work is smacking the FSB in the desired direction with a rubber mallet. Some folks shy away from this method, but if your lacking the tools for the barrel removal this method might be worth trying. Personally, I’m for the barrel loosening method. ETA: From the photo, your rear sight is really not that bad. You could always let it go. I’ve seen a lot worse. |
No, I don’t foresee you having any problems with zeroing. Again, the Aimpoint and EOTech have so much windage and elevation adjustment available to the user, that I believe your weapon would have to have a very seriously mechanical problem prohibiting you from zeroing. If you already have a BUIS installed and zeroed, and your just now adding the Aimpoint, zero should be pretty simple. To get the Aimpoint in the ballpark before you even get to the range simply adjust the dot to sit on top of the FSP while looking through the irons. Then at the range you should already be on the paper and only require slight adjustments to zero. Saves time and ammo.

I was just worried that it would be way off with my barrel indexing being off also.Thanks for your help quib your the man.
