| What is the weight of the MRP lite compared to a normal upper? I'm considering getting one but have not been able to handle one. If I do get one I would get a 16in barrel and then have a DD 12.5in barrel converted for the MRP. What would I be looking at weight wise? Also interested if there is a 9mm conversion barrel? |

Also interested if there is a 9mm conversion barrel? the MRP is as lite or liter than a similar upper/rail configuration.(by MRP lite i'm guessing you mean the CQB) as for the barrel thing: do you not want a 16" barrel or do you want both a 16 and a 12.5? the reason I ask is I wanted a 12.5 non-piston for mine too. I went with the 14.5" LMT MRP barrel and had it cut down to 12.5. you could have it re-contoured while it's out if you wanted to save some weight. Spike's makes (or has in the past) a 9mm conversion for the MRP, as noted in the top post on this page. several guys here have them and say good things. i'm unable to get to my pics at the moment, if you go back a few pages you'll find my dimpled 12.5. |

| I would look to get a 16in barrel and a 12.5in barrel then possibly the 9mm barrel if available. I like the idea of cutting down and reprofiling the 14in barrel. Thanks for the help. |

no prob. my cut down (from 14.5") 12.5" runs like a champ with and without the can. I have a 16" that i'm gona have sent out and cut down to 14.5" (for that 14.5" middle thing). it'll get the dimpled treatment while i'm at it. the dimples do lighten the LMT barrels up a good bit. as a side note... i've been considering a 16 or 18" noveske switchblock barrel. don't really need it but that's never stopped me before. |

| I called Adams Arms about this over a year ago. They said it would not work and I was talking about a CQB rail. I suppose if someone had access to a machine shop, you could clearance the rail enough to make room for any piston system. The only risk being you ruin an upper. You could start with a rifle length mrp and if you can't do it or mess it up, cut it to CQB length... |

Cheers yes, it's the 212. i had a YHM Phantom on there before and while it was an okay can it certainly wasn't what the Surefire is. so far i've put just under 3000 rounds through this one (it's been a cold winter) and it still looks new (except where it had a run in with the seat post in my jeep  ). it's shared time on the 12.5 and my 14.5 and as far as i can tell there is ZERO POA/POI shift.
the 14.5" is a full LMT with just the addition of an H buff and the 12.5" is a cut down 14.5" MRP barrel with an H2 (runs well with and without the can). after running YHM, AAC, KAC and AWC cans i'm 100% sold on Surefire. don't get me wrong the other cans performed exactly as advertised and i'm not saying they're bad, it's just my opinion that Surefire makes the best 556 can on the market. YMMV but i absolutely love this thing. so much so that i'm working on replacing the YHM on my MWS with a Surefire. and yes the "box O' death" is great. don't know why i waited so long to pick one up. |

22LR MRP Conversion. Minimalist approach for weight savings. I'm liking the GearSector offset mount for the Scout light. The reason it is shifted to the rear several spaces is due to the edge of the offset mount interfering with the Troy Industries front BUIS. I'm going to add a whammy pad to the 12 o'clock position for ambidextrous light control. |

Thanks. I agree. The handstops worked well with the AFG, but I like the lighter weight. Not having an absolute hand position is also nice. The LaRue index clips are the shit. The diameter of the rail system is significantly reduced. I can wrap my thumb and fingers all the way around the rail system.
The index clips will work nicely with the SR-07 switch cabling too. I detest loose cabling. I might try one of the KAC front sight posts. I do like to have the light as far forward as possible. I'd like to get their Aimpoint T1 battery cap too. I'm considering swapping out my Aimpoint mounts for the new LaRue co-witness mount and a lower 3x magnifier riser. I do have eventual plans to SBR this rifle, so the placement of the light bezel isn't that bad. A 12.5 with flash suppressor will be about flush with where it is now. I might throw an ACB in it, and relocate the LMT one to spare duty. |

Cheers mine did when mounted on the other side. i had to shave off a little from the GS mount and the Surefire. in the pics you can see that i shaved off a bit more than was needed but it worked out ok.

For those of you that have cut your 16" piston barrels down to 14.5", did you need to mess with the gas port at all? I am wondering if the gas block has to be removed in order to cut and re-thread the barrel or open up the gas port? Any help would be appreciated.

ADCO has a size they open the port to. But they informed me the actual size is proprietary information and wouldn't share exactly how large they made it. Whatever it is, it works great even with anemic Wolff ammo. That reversed KAC sight does look slick. It would allow me to push the whammy pad of the SR07 a little further forward as a result. |

I'm still debating on the rifle or CQB MRP. I want a piston, but I like the longer rails and I can't have both with the same upper 
Obviously I'm gonna have to do the Arfcom thing eventually, but I wonder which I should get first. For you guys that have both, which is more fun to shoot from the start? Also, does anyone have a pic of a CQB upper with an 18'' barrel on it? I saw the one earlier, but the angle distorts the look of everything |

So I'm turning into a big MRP fan...
I have a barrel off being cut and dimpled, another 16 on the way, and I just ordered the Spikes .22 stuff. What do you guys know about DBMG? Ideally I could send them any barrel (5.56, 22, 9mm, etc) and they can convert it? Anyone have experience with them or should I just contact them? Something to hold me over while I'm waiting on my barrel from Marvin...
