Local store has these on sale for $4.99. Bought one-have not had chance to run it,but it appears very solid and heavy duty. Very impressed with appearance. Anybody had any experience with these?

Kfeltenberger (sp?) in the Bullpup section bough like 500 of these and they turned out to be turds. Over 2 years later, he is still waiting for MSAR to make good on 'em. These are the AR pattern mags, not the STG556 mags.

They are cheap because distributors are trying to dump them.

Buyer Beware!

Thanks for reply. I had heard that MSAR had redesigned the mags earlier this year, and they were better than their old mags?????  I have pmags, troy, some good old GI mags that I have had for 20 years, and I just tried out one of those mako steel mags. Man,these jokers are tough. U could use one of them as a weapon if necessary. LOL. I found a good deal on those D&H mags at Palmetto. Been keeping my eyes open,I really wanna do some serious " Stocking Up" when I find a super deal on mags. Mags are getting cheaper. Guess I'll pass on these MSAR mags.....Keep looking for that 'Deal".....

The ones he (and many others) have had problems with were the original ones.

They have since been re-designed. re-introduced, some of the first run recalled/replaced, and now seem to be flowing fine... but I don't think they will overcome the reputation of those first ones even if they work great, and that's probably why they are selling so cheap.

I have tested the newest ones in different colors (including the translucent ones) in a variety of rifles and haven't had any problems with them, but I didn't have problems with the original ones either so maybe I'm just lucky.  Regardless, they won't be replacing my PMAGS for serious use.

If you want to "stock up," IMHO it is pretty hard to beat PMAGs for $9 each and several retailers have had them for that or a hair less lately.

I had the early ones from 3-4 years ago and was hesitant to buy the current ones but eventually did. These newer 2013 production ones are night and day better than the original ones.

CDNN and few other are blowing these out super cheap and may pickup a few more.

I just came to this forum to ask about these, saw CDNN has them cheap and was wondering how they are. I guess I will spend a little more for proven PMAGs.

I bought several and I can say that the plastic feels alot like Pmag plastic. Don't bother with the translucent mags, they're pretty dark, not clear enough to be worth the extra couple bucks.

IIRC they didn't really go out of business so much as they kind of "rebooted" (along with a lot of staffing changes) after the big factory move.

But there was definitely a gap of sorts for a while.
