| So, I know this is a can of worms, but in terms of accuracy, is there any reason to believe that the COLT MT rifles should outshoot the LE carbines (of equivalent barrel length of course)? Is there ANY differnece in chambers, bbl, bolt, etc? If not, what makes MTs deserve the designation "match"? |
| Match targets only have a chromed chamber as an unchromed barrel is suposed to be more accurate..tell that to my 14.5/phantom Bushy shoots under an inch from a bench rest at 100 yds and a good scope. The Colt LE models are all chrome lined and ready for what ever you can dish out.Im sure not chroming the entire barrel on the MT models also saves colt a few bucks. |
What are you talking about? The Colt MT6400C has a chrome lined barrel and a chrome chamber, M4 feedramps and a "H" buffer.

The Match Target rifles have that name because of the AWB. Colt couldn't call it an AR-15, so they renamed it a Target rifle to get around the ban. Once again, model927 shows he doesn't know sh*t about Colts. The MT6400C is the AWB-friendly version of the 6920 is all so you should expect no accuracy difference, all things being equal.FWIW: I'm still getting my 6920 dialed in but on Sunday after I made the last adjustments to zero my ACOG, my final two shots measured .8 inches from each other. This was @ 100 yards using the magazine as a rest, with XM193 for ammo. (I know two shots is not much of a sample size, but it was getting dark. I'll post more as soon as I can.) The MT6400C is an excellent rifle. If I hadn't been able to find a 6920 as easily as I did, I would have bought a 6400C without hesitation. (I also own a Bushmaster, btw, so I am not some kind of "Colt Cheerleader") |
| Yea roto thats why my buddies new match target full size came with a plastic buffer and just a chrome lined chamber. The 6400 is marked M4 so thats what I refer to.When I say match targets like the model 6601 my buddy has its not all chrome lined like the match target I had 12 years ago.Maybe I should have been clearer on the specific model but I was told by colt only the MT6400 M4 they offer is chrome lined aside from there LEO models.Their match target HBARs like the one my buddy has definately is not chrome lined in the bore just the chamber and it came with a plastic buffer. So I guess their M4 clone..yes its a clone no matter how its marked and ther LE models are the only ones fully chrome lined. And for what he paid he would have done better with a full size Bushmaster. And before anyone uses the colt is the closest to an M4 its not.Only a real M4 is the closest weapon to an M4 and those cannot be had. |

So, it appears that there is noting on the MT rifles that makes them deserve the "match" designation. I know one thing for sure: the Sporter Match HBAR (1:7) I bought in 1991 is the most accurate AR I own. Not sure if it's chrome in the bore or not, I'll look tonight. I was under the impression years ago that it was, but that was mainly b/c military buddies told me that it was, assuming that it was just like the ones they were issued. By the way el-roto, is the "pinata of death" any match for the "donut of death"? Just wondering |
