I am in the process of building up a M-4 styled AR. My question is does a standard front sight base interfere with optics mounted on the flattop rail? I always see M-4's with standard FSB on them, not folding sights. I have a 20 inch rifle and the FSB did shadow the scope a bit. I want to mount a Trijicon ACOG on the flattop and don't want it to interfere with it. I am thinking of going with a gas block with a rail  that matches the height of my quad rail and put a flip up sight on it. Any opinions? Reasons why I do not see that set up often? Thanks so much.

The front sight will show a little through an ACOG if the lighting is right. I dont mind it at all. If you wanted to get rid of the standard FSB then I would go with a lo-pro gas block and handguard that covers it with a flip up sight on the handguard.
