Anyone ever done this? Any design tips? I have access to a lathe, mill, great machinist, and solid stock. The reason I'm thinking about doing this is I want to pick up an 10.5" or 11.5" upper and make the comp/suppressor to get the barrel to EXACTLY 16" until I move out of Michigan (could be a little while and SBRs are against the law here). I plan on either the pin and weld method or soldering, haven't decide yet? Any suggestions? Thanks. BC |
A good machinist (like me) can remove the permanent muzzle device without the barrel sustaining any damage. Of course it makes more sense just to buy it without a permanent muzzle device if you are going to be putting your own on there anyways. Most barrels with permanent muzzle devices are going to measure 16.1" to 16.5" long. I seriously doubt you would notice the extra 1/8" to 1/2" that you could save by making your own flash suppressor. |
