I'm building a new flattop and trying to decide between these two BUIS. I tried searching the forum but couldn't come up with much. Anyone who's used either of these two have suggestions on which is a better route to go? I am planning putting a red dot on the rifle, so irons will only be used on occasion for range use.

I went Matech, I think it's heavier duty.  For me it's rarely going to be used but I like steel over plastic when it comes to sights.  I never use the larger ghost ring and always use the small peep anyway.  I like the adjustability to shoot at different ranges if I need to as well, I'd rather have the option and not use it.

do you have a budget?  Why not Troy?  theyre excellent iron sights...

I only use the small aperture as well. I don't necessarily have a budget, but because I won't use it much, didn't want to spend a lot. $50-60 probably.

Check the EE. I know at least one person had the Matechs for $55.

Here's one for $50

Yeah I guess that didn't make much sense did it LOL. I went ahead and picked up a Matech from the EE. Can't wait to try it out it just seemed more durable to me. If its working for the guys in the sand its sufficient for me!
