Wanting to keep a second mag on the rifle (or one if I needed to walk around without one in the well), I reluctantly decided to try the mag cinch. So far, I am less than impressed. Anybody else? |

It's the Buffer Technologies one. Pretty tight, but I haven't had much of a chance to try it out. Been catching up on reports and computer work, so I haven't taken it our yet. Just from some manipulation drills, it is awkward as hell. The mags are staying together, but I really don't care much for the first mag change and it is far more bulky than I like. Stock pouch on the A2 and A4 is fine, but this is not the answer I'm looking for. |

My problems with the RediMag: 1. Heavy/awkward like the cinch, but somewhat premanently. I would always have that hump on the inboard side of the rifle. 2. Obstructs the charging handle/bolt release (except for the one with the extender). The cinch does as well, but not after the first mag change. 3. Dumps both mags. Now yes, the cinch does the same, but they are secured to each other. However, it does have the benefit of having speed reloads be quicker than trying to line up the off-center spare mag as with the cinch. It has a lot of the same problems as the cinch, but with the addition of them being always there. I picked up the cinch because the shop I do some work for carries them, and it wasn't that much. I thought I would at least try it, and for $15 it's not a great loss if it doesn't work out. I am really not liking the thing, and the only redeeming factor is that it DOES allow for an additional mag on the rifle in the event that I don't have a rig with me. I see the cinch being dumped in the spare gear box. |
