Is there a way to inspect USGI 30 Rd Magazines without actually fully loading them and firing off the ammo? I am fairly new to the black rifle game and have a DPMS AR15 carbine with 16" fluted barrel. A fine weapon, but utterly worthless with a bad magazine that wont feed properly. So is there a 'GO/NOGO' gage of some sort available? If not what are the critical measurements of the magazine that need to be checked?

AS I recall from 'The Black Rifle' book, Colt made such a guage for magazines. The problem was that mags that passed the gauge would sometime not work in rifles and mags that failed might work perfectly.

Load them and shoot them. It's the only way to be sure.

The only way I know for sure ( 100% ) that my new magazines work is to  load them and shoot that magazine in my AR.

Sorry
