OK, tried to do a search and found nothing.
What is the longest that one should leave a magazine fully loaded? Just wondering how it effects the springs ability to function over time. Thanks in advance. Michael |

Unloading and loading or the cycling of the spring will effect longevity not keeping the spring static. Think paper clip it will stay in the state it is in till it rust away or someone starts bending it. The more and more you bend the paper clip the faster is wears out and eventually breaks same goes for the spring in the magazine.
Load em up they will be fine. |
| I inherited a GI 1911A1 .45ACP pistol from my dad, a WWII vet. He had two mags loaded right after WWII. I tried them in 1968, and they worked just fine with the original ball ammo. Then I reloaded them fully. The next time I tried them was a couple years ago, and they worked just fine again. Of course, I'm not recommending that time interval, but it shows that a fairly decent mag will hold spring tension for quite awhile. |
