Greetings,
I need another helping hand on my project.
Who makes a good reliable magazine that is flat sided?
I can't have the  formed detents running up and down the mag.
Looking for 10 to 20 rounds.
Thanks in advance,
Gos

your shooting at wildcats?

He means he s shooting a "wildcat" cartridge this means a non stanard caliber or a modified case or both... and it will not fit in the magazine with the reinforcing ribs in it... Think of it as a custom case or totally custom ammunition...

oh, he stated something about of the front having indentions.

guess thermolds or orlites would work, think eagle makes a plastic mag for it too.

Correct.
I thought "wildcat" was a common phrase.

Well, it depends on the age of the board members. Some people on the internet are either chronologically young or have been involved with firearms for only a short time. "Wildcat" is less common today then say 20 years ago.

Not meant to bash anyone, just typing the truth.

No offense taken.
I was reading shooting articles by Jack O'Connor when he was writing for Outdoor Life.  Elmer Keith, Paul Ackley, Warren Page; all those old guys.  Back at the reloading bench we played with cases that had two shoulders and triplexes loads.  Times have changed, physics have not.  You can still only drive a bullet so fast before you eat up your throat or cut the top strap.  All these new cartridges coming out have my brain in a fog.  Times were, you spent thousands of dollars developing a new cartridge to fill a specific nitch in the field.  Necking out the 30/06 for bear to 35 Whelen, Necking down the .308 for small game yet enough punch for deer.  Not the developers are just looking to produce something different by the bucket load, toss it out to the public and see what sticks.  Poor planning on their part.  Lots of wasted time and money.  I'm waiting for the brass 10guage to get necked down to 22 for long range rats!

Guess I'm a geezer!

You might want to take a look at the PRI 6.8spc magazines.  They are wider.

ETA:  Here they are.

Hard to tell without looking directly down into them.
I may end up making my own from some Stainless Stee. and welding them up with existing springs.  Anyone have some full view picts of them?
Thanks in advance,
Gos.

Nope, Thermolds sides are thicker, so the inner specs were correct for the ammo.

The 6.8 mags have shallower ribs to allow for the larger diameter brass.

All .223 mags will have interior dimensions spec'ed for .223 ammo, so it doesn't matter what brand you buy.  As others have suggested, you might look at the PRI 6.8 SPC mags.

The 10 round plastic mags seem to be all "open" on the inside and fit my wildcat just fine.  I'll keep my eye open for a like mag in higher capacity, but I'd like to avoid spending $50.00 just to see what a 6.8 looks like if I don't have to.
Thanks again for all your suggestions,
Gos.
