Hi all- I've been reading through all sorts of posts on this site since I picked up a RRA Operator 2 a few months ago.

Question:  I bought an Eotech a while back (can't remember the model off the top of my head) and its the lower profile version which allows for absolute co-witness with both the front flip down site and rear fixed site on the dominator rail standard on the Operator.  Yesterday I made an impulse buy on a cheap Leapers UTG 3x magnifier.  I can't seem to figure out the mounting of the magnifier- no matter what combination I can't get the height correct with the Eotech.  I assume its not practical to use a magnifier with the fixed rear sight, so I took off the standard dominator rail with the sight.  Now I have the flat top rail the length the whole length, but when I mount the Eotech and the magnifier, the magnifier sits too low.

I'm not yet familiar with all the options out there, what am I missing?  Do I need a spacer or some sort of another raised mount than what comes with the cheap 3x magnifier?

You're help would be appreciated... thanks. (sorry for the poor picture quality)

(magnifier and eotech are just loosely mounted in a random spot so you can see the height difference)

Not sure, but is your tube a free float?  If so, mount your EoTech on it, keep your BUIS and get a LaRue flip out of the way mount for your magnifier...as far as spacer...maybe?

Thanks for the thought- I haven't figured out where to mount things yet fore and aft- just trying to get the height figured out.  But I thought that you need to have the magnifier close to your eye, and the eotech should be close to the magnifier as well?

I assume you would never use a rear sight even with the large aperature with eotech AND the magnifier?

It looks like your magnifier mount is a simple 30mm ring that isn't made to line up with the EOTech or AimPoint. UTG makes airsoft components so I doubt they understand how these items are supposed to fit together.  There is no magnifier-only riser that I know of that puts it at the correct height.
You'd probably want to ditch that scope ring and put the magnifier in an ADM or LaRue pivot mount (low version) to align with that EOTech 512.  That magnifier looks like it's a 30mm bell. Good luck.

Interesting- thanks for the imput.  I never understood the whole airsoft fascination but to each his own I guess.

I'll check out those mounts you mention, am I just spinning my wheels though with this magnifier?  I just couldn't reason spending a ton of money on an eotech unit.

If you get the right mount, it will likely do the job.

Measure the magnifier center in the mount from the receiver rail.  Measure the center of your Eo (or the dot thingy) from the receiver rail...go from there.  Just because I have an LT-152 mount in the EE, this mount will bring the center of the optic to about 1.20"...not sure if that will be to low or the same with your current mount.  You need to determine the height you need.

If you mount your BUIS (because it looks integral to the rail) on your receiver and your magnifier...is it the right height?  If so, move Eo forward?
