| Does anyone have an opinion on the Magpul CTR stocks |
|
I have put them on three rifles, the locking lever takes up the slop and the buttpad feels great. ETA As far as buffer tube kits you are going to be limited by what you can find right now. I have used kits from RRA, Bushy and made one out of DPMS parts, all of them seemed very much the same... |

Quoted: how durable are the CTRs? if i slammed the rifle against the butt, would it break or crack? Read this: Buttstock Bashfest |

| I went with a CRT Milspec stock for a PSA extention tube, and it fits about the same as the PSA stock. I went with a CRT over the MOE for the QD hole and the friction lock as I wanted Zero movment once locked. The friction lock does not seem to really be functional ? I do like the cheek weild. Major inprovement in comfort and form. Anyway, the question here is? Is there some milspec tubes that fit tighter than others? |

Quoted: I am glad to hear this....I just ordered mine Sunday night and should get it by the end of the week. Thanks Primary Arms for having what I wanted actually in stock and actually shipping it quickly! Do a search, somebody just posted the directions recently. |

I wasn't happy with the CTR and how it locked up, just figured I'd mention it because I find that Magpul generates a lot of bias (they make products I do like, but they do not make a stock that I prefer over similarly priced offerings). I had another stock that locked up better at the time (still have it because I've never found another that locks up as well, but I'm not using it for ergonomic reasons, which is another feature that the CTR lacks against comparably priced models). They do a lot of things mediocre though, so it really depends on what your needs are and what bugs you. If you want a stock that does everything better than a budget stock, but nothing as well as the comparably priced stock that meets each need the best, the CTR may be the best fit for you.
This is something I would place a very small face value on recommendations, at least unless you can verify that the person recommending has a large cross section of experience and is familiar with the details. Try and check out a CTR on someone else's gun when there is a good mix of other stocks around to compare with. |
