Hello,
Will the Magpul ASAP ambidextrous sling mount ( http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Magpul-ASAP-Ambidextrous-Sling-Attachment-Point-p/mag500.htm ) replace my receiver end-plate or will it some how cover it? |
|
thanks for the link As for the op topic it will replace it. |

+1 Also the Guy that makes them is an arfcommer. |
| I also had a an ASAP, I didnt' like the rattling ring either or that microscopic index pin. I was trying to take off my flash hider by hand and had the stock in between my legs and ended up shearing the threads off my buffer tube with that index tube while twisting on the FH. I was shocked how easily it did that so I bought the UBR which takes a whole new view on collapsible stocks. |

Definitely a simple and inexpensive design. Just beware of potential binding in the corners with these types of plates. We looked at this production method (single bent plate) before we developed the ASAP and instead went with a ring to allow a smooth, uninhibited swing. |
Can't have that ASAP plate rattling when you're sneaking up on taliban at the local shooting range
If you actually use your rifle, you'll never notice it. Doesn't make noise when slung, and it makes less noise than running, getting behind cover, and your rifle firing. |

Regardless of what you use, there is metal to metal contact somewhere, and if you keep tension in the sling, you won't have noise. The smoothness that the ASAP provides makes it the winner for me. I don't usually notice the sling noise over the report of the rifle, but maybe I just have bad hearing. |

If you were gonna "sneak up on the Taliban" why not wrap the ring up in some tape? It might be ugly but it wouldn't rattle. Once the rounds start flying no one is gonna hear it anyways.
Also the rattle isn't that loud anyways, if they can hear it your moving fast enough they will hear something else anyways. I have the ASAP on three rifles and I love it. |

+1 to IKH Slap Plate . Better than Magpul ASAP and I love Magpul stuff . |

Yea, I have to say that I have no issues with my ASP's rattling either. I guess the ratting may be but slightly muffled by the "GUNFIRE"! I'm sure most of arfcom's beer guts and suspenders make more noise than an ASAP plate. If not that, the electric motor scooters sure do
Beyond that, I've never heard anyone chew beef jerky any quieter than the noise an ASAP plate makes too. Pretty much covers it. |

I found the slight rattle a tad annoying as well (call it a pet-peeve, I'm not planning on sneaking up on paper targets) so I simply used a bit of 550 cord and made a silent loop for my ASAP. After this pic was taken, I hack-sawed the rattle ring off very easily. Took about 15 seconds.

| In my experience, if you have a sling attached to the ASAP, you don't get any rattling or noise. The only minor issue is that the stock does completely collapse if the ring is not in the right place, but other then that, it's good to go. The SLAP looks good too but I've never used it. Both are good choices |

Looks like the ikh slap plate now but was having 'sleepless nights' thinking about a substitute. Then I saw this post! Paracord it is! Thanks! |
