I am in the middle of my first build and I am trying to put on a Magpul MIAD Grip. When I tighten the screw there is still alot of play in the handle but that screw will not move anymore. Now when I put the A2 handle back on the reciever(pwa) it is solid as a rock. Has this happen to anyone else? Is it me? Any suggestions? I feel like a buffoon but I figured I would throw it out here and see if I can get any suggestions

Are you using the screw magpul sent with the grip?If so try screwing in the screw without the grip,do that a couple of times and it will help. Also if it has the blue loctite on it try and get it off.

sounds like to long of screw for sure. Is there a set screw in the bottom of the hole?

I am using the screw that came with handle.I will try and run the screw through by itself and see if that helps

The Magpul screw has a ton of loctite on it that makes it hard to screw in. Clean some of it off with a wire brush or you could probably use your old screw. I don't remember if there is any difference or not.

There's way to much screwing going on in this thread.  

If anyone figures this out let me know. I have the exact same problem with an Ergo grip.

This, there is a lot of loctite on the screw... I had the same problem as you did and I just kept turning the screw, eventually you will snug it down. I also wish that they did not use a slot head screw and opted for a hex head.

I got the handle on and the screw is on all the way. However  the handle still walks a little though.The screw will not turn anymore and it is as far down in the handle as it will go.

I've had the same issue in the past.  This probably sounds stupid, but get a big damn screwdriver!  I ended up picking one up at Menards with a large, rubbery handle and thick shank.  What a world of difference.  I was able to screw the screw in all the way.  It sometimes takes quite a bit of torque to tighten the grip up, and this was just the ticket for me.  My buddy couldn't get his Hogue to tighten up, so I came over with my big damn screwdriver and fixed it for him.  He now has a big damn screwdriver.

What brand lower?

Some lowers don't have the grip screw hole threaded to full depth...

It is a PWA lower. Funny thing is I put the A2 grip back on it and it is solid as a rock.I can now get the screw all the way in it is just that the rear of the MIAD still wiggles.By that I mean if I push from the back of the handle forward there is still a little play.

Then the screw is NOT all the way in...



Is the screw that came with the MIAD longer than the one that came out of it?

the screw that came with the MIAD is shorter than the original Hex screw that came with the lower.I will try it with the old screw.

I was following Magpul's instructions and they said not to use the other screw.I will try it with the original screw

Yeah if it's wiggling 99% chance it's not on all the way. Only problem I could see otherwise would be the hole isn't drilled deep enough.

They snug up pretty damn tight where you think it's all the way snug but it's clearly not (wiggling).

I've put on 3 MIADs and they ALL took a lot more force to turn the screw.  To the point I was questioning whether the screw was bottomed out.  Once properly tightened though, they were rock solid.

never had this problem.

Of course most of mine have been installed on 80% lowers that i tapped myself...
