[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Magpul Trigger Guard... (Page 1 of 2)
| Almost $26? Was that priority shipping? I understand product development is expensive, but it seems a little high. Maybe it is one of those things I need to feel in my hands to understand. I would have thought that a molded part similar to the followers would have worked as well for a couple bucks. |
I'd pay more for aluminum over a cheap plastic part any day of the week. |
Big +1 on the Leathernecks at Bravo. |
-Cap'n, correct me if I'm wrong, but it still looks like it still will bite if you use an A2 grip without gloves. You have a TD grip on yours, so its hard to tell. For using gloves such as Nomex flight gloves or similar, it looks like it would be the ticket over the standard trigger guard. |
agreed, I was half ass tempted to go ahead and order the trigger guard the other day even though I have 2 MIAD's on order (the waiting really sucks). Fortunately common sense and reasoning kicked in and I fought off the impulse to order. Seems like if I don't have atleast one AR related toy coming in the mail I get DT's, lol. Trigger guard looks good, one day I'll have mine. |
It works perfectly (eliminates gap) with an A2 , Ergo Ambi, or SPR grip, as I just tried 'em all out for the sake of trying. It'd be a crime to not equip your awesome AR's with these -Cap'n |

My Bushmaster trigger guard was not plastic but it was a really sharp edged aluminum one. I resolved the problem by insatalling an Oberland Arms one from Buffertech and I really like the way it feels now. It is made of aluminum but the edges are all rounded and it doesn't have that extra large loop look to it. It comes with o-rings for a tight fit and you can just drop it out of the way if you want to use it with heavy gloves. The cost was about the same shipped. Here is a site with a pic of it: http://www.militarymorons.com/weapons/img/trigguard.jpg http://www.militarymorons.com/weapons/img/guard1.jpg http://www.militarymorons.com/weapons/img/guard2.jpg http://www.militarymorons.com/weapons/img/guard3.jpg I really like it, it feels great and doesn't change the look of the original weapon. |

Mine was $19.95 with free shipping from Bowers Tactical. I found that mine didn't fit quite right with my TD pistol grip, on a Bushmaster "L" series lower. A couple of passes with a file on the trigger guard took care of it though. It would have worked without the filing, but the fililng made it purtier. A little flat black paint to touch up the file marks, and they don't show under the TD "duck bill" And I like it a lot. Thinking about putting them on my other rifles too. |

Got mine yesterday from Bravo Company. Very quality item. Fit and finish excellent. Replaced it myself. First time ever (yeah, I know...no big deal). Anyway, it's my baby and I don't want to mess her up (RRA Lower). So just in case there are folks that want to do this but haven't before, here was my experience: 1. Punched out the pin closest to the grip. Tapped carefully so as to no mar the lower. No problem. 2. Took me a while to figure out how to get the front "pin" out. The front "pin" does not go all the way through (at least on my RRA) so punching it out was not an option. I finally figured out that there was a small (retaining?) pin on the guard itself to the far right (weapon upside down) which I tapped out. I then simply pushed the pin in enough to clear the lower and pulled the guard free. Much to my surprise and embarassment, not only did the pin fall out but a spring came out as well. After all that, all I needed to do was to push the stainless "pin" enough to clear the bracket and I would have been done. Oh well. 3. Mounted the new guard and tapped in the replacement (new) rear pin. 4. Hardest part -- screwing in the front "pin." It kept binding and acting like I was going to strip it. I finally screwed it in a couple of times with the guard out of the bracket then lined the guard back up and carefully eased it in. It took a couple of times to get it to go in right. It would go a little ways then bind. I think that the guard and the bracket don't line up exactly and it was getting pushed off center as I screwed it in. Anyway, it's in and looks and feels great. ![]() The front 'pin' is a spring loaded detent. All you needed to do was push it in and the guard will come out. It is designed so that you can fold the trigger guard out of the way when it is really cold and you are wearing heavy gloves or mittens. |
Love mine. I like how the inner and outer edges are rounded. No more annoying plastic edge against the middle finger.
From another post: Here are some notes that might be helpful: - If you have TD Battlegrip or other grip with a built-in gapper, loosen the grip screw one turn to make installation easier. - The set screw for the front of the guard needs a 1/16" hex wrench (not included). - Consider using a few drops of locktite on the set screw. - You can use your existing roll pin (at the rear). When drifting it out, don't punch it all the way out - just enough to remove the original guard. Install the Magpul guard, then the set screw and finally punch the roll pin back in. If you loosened your grip screw, re-tighten it. |
Yeah. I remembered after I had already taken it apart. I forgot about that capability in my excitement and the fact that I never use that functionality.
