I don't see why there would be any problems with your plan. I mean, if you have the money, and want it, by all means, go for it! You might not have as much trouble with different uppers that you think you'll have. I've yet to run into any issue with my DIAS and uppers. No timing needed. I know some people do have to work with theirs, but mine hasn't been an issue. I've done pretty much the same thing with this rifle. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/China_Doll-5.jpg http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/asitshouldbe.jpg http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/China_Doll-4.jpg Thats nice, I like that a lot. Are their any ideas you have or would suggest in the line of different upper configurations or calibers? Any thing you would do differently? |

I wouldn't get different cans for the other uppers. One AAC 762-SDN-6 will fill all the roles from .223 to 7.62 just fine. It is great for the .300blk. Just my opinion. I want a suppressor that I can mount straight to the A2 flash hiders on the rest of my rifles as well. Maybe I can get a halo for the rest of them later and this kit with the AAC. |

Are their any ideas you have or would suggest in the line of different upper configurations or calibers? Any thing you would do differently? You have it pretty well figured out. If this is going to be a bug out type gun, then I'd get something like an SDN-6 that is made to run on the 300blk, but will also work very well on the 5.56. It uses the same mount, so it'll be very useful on both uppers. I like the 11.5", so nothing wrong with that. The 300blk I'd do the 9". But you have a pretty good idea of what you want, I can't say there is much I'd change on it. |

You got me Interested in the SDN-6. I believe I will go with that. I have also been looking at the Noveske 8" barrel for the 300 BLK.
Here is a thought. What about another upper in 458 SOCOM or 50 Beowufe? That would put me at four upper all together. I am just not sure if I really need something like that or not. I have never ventured out of the 5.56 in the AR platform so not quite sure if that would be a good decision or not. |

I mean, if you were going to use it for hunting, a 300blk would work for most game, deer, hogs, etc. If you were running into something larger(bear, elk, moose) then you'd want something heavier. For me, there is nothing in my area that would warrant a larger round. So I'd stick with the 5.56 and 300blk. |

I hate to tell you this, but after you build a few uppers, you will want to build more lowers to go with them. It's just the nature of the disease.
Who wants a bunch of uppers laying around. I built three uppers for my sbr. I just sent the form 1 for the third lower. I'm sick and need help. |

The LBT wrist pouch for the Garmin Fortrex series GPSs is great on the LMT SOPMOD stock. Keeps it always with the rifle and easily accessible. ~Augee I will look into it. I already have my Foretrex strapped to the buttstock but with the stock wrist strap. |

I guess I question the "dedicated, silenced CQB set up" and another "light weight door-kickin" upper. Why wouldn't that be the same upper? A 300 AAC Blackout with a 9" barrel would fill both of those roles perfectly. The lower cost UMC practice ammo is coming out soon.
With your current upper and the single SBR upper, you'll have everything from light precision (out to 600 yds) to general purpose (same upper) to CQB. Hunting also with the AAC BO. Instead of the 3rd CQB upper, you could get a dedicated .22 upper for training if you don't already have one. |

I guess my answer for that would be versatility in case I couldn't get 300 BLK for some reason or another. |

nice paint job, like the richer colors better than standard camo Thanks, it is pretty effective too. http://smorrowphoto.smugmug.com/photos/i-mqNz45W/0/L/i-mqNz45W-L.jpg Wow, don't ever drop it or leave it unattended anywhere. |

Quoted: Ok, so the bottom pictured rifle is going to now be my main rifle. I am keeping the rest of the ones I have, but I want to build up a few upper receivers to go with this, along with an IR laser, IR flashlight, multiple optics platforms, and multiple uses. Basically ten pounds of shit in a five pound bag... I want an intermediate to long range rifle (current config), a dedicated and silenced CQB setup, a light weight, short barreled door kickin' rifle, and want to be able to just do everything with it from coyote and pig hunting, shooting beavers out of the pond, tearing the range up, defending my home, and killin' off all these zombies everyone keeps talking about. Intent of this is to provide me with a single work gun that I can configure into multiple rolls and can all be stored together in one case. I know I probably can't fill every single roll with this, but I want to build this up anyways. I have six AR-15's already in multiple configurations and plenty of handguns and long guns so I don't "need" to do this, but I can and want to just as a project. I am bored, have a few bucks to spend, and have a shit ton of training, experience, magazines, ammo, and all the other things people advise you to get first. I have an ACOG, an Aimpoint Comp M2, a Surefire M951 with IR filter, and am about to order the IR laser. I want to build up an 11.5" upper for the kit and maybe a really super short 300 Blackout with a stubby suppressor. I am also planning on getting a can for the other two lowers as well. Maybe a Halo, but not sure. Also, I am looking at adding a bipod, Otis cleaning kit, a small GPS, and a small spare parts kit with extra bolt, springs, and rings and such to the kit. It all has to fit neatly and highly organized into a Pelican 1720 case and go onto this single lower as well. Also add a space for my PVS14's and 3X magnifier. Any ideas or changes to configurations you gents may be able to advise me on? I want to do it all high quality and purposeful. I also plan on eventually getting a RDIAS for this kit as well. I understand I have to time all the uppers to it and all, but that is kind of why I want to dedicate a whole setup to it. Maybe I can add a soft case in with it all too??? I want to open the case up and have people shit themselves over it. BTW, I just switched the buttstock to an LMT SOPMOD. Photos of updated rifle after ensuing Krylon attack ends and dries will be posted later. http://smorrowphoto.smugmug.com/photos/i-WxWPCQs/0/L/i-WxWPCQs-L.jpg What pistol grip is that? |

Anything with a short barrel, suppressed, and with NVG has that wow factor. |

Thanks everyone. I ordered a Geissele SSA trigger for it last night, added an LMT tactical charging handle, a Troy Pro Grade receiver sling adapter, painted my ACOG Taupe to match my other optics, painted my Surefire M951 Taupe, and put a SOPMOD stock on it with my Garmin Foretrex attached to it. I think I may get a JP bolt for it next and then the Pelican case. I'll probably wait till the first of the year to get the 300 BLK upper. Got a trip to Texas to make for Christmas so I gotta devote funds to that for now.
The grip is a Sierra Precision SPR. I absolutely love this grip too. |

I just weighed the rifle completely set up with an empty magazine. Added to what is pictured is an LMT SOPMOD stock, Foretrex GPS, six spare CR123 batteries, Vickers CAS sling, and Troy Pro Grade receiver QD socket adapter, and a lens pen. Total weight is 8.97 lb. Considering all of the crap on it I figure that is pretty good.
I probably sprayed a pound of Krylon on it too |
