Any reason that I couldn't take this

Add it to this

And make this

No.  Fairly certain there have been some tests done that concluded that powdered tungsten doesn't work as well as the sliding counterweights though.

why not, I don't see any reason it wouldn't work....

It is same thing but make sure you compact the Tungsten(W) powder it is not as easy as poor into buffer but you can fine tune your buffer weight very easily this way.

Relevant to my interests. I've been toying with the idea of using some lead shot to add weight to one of my buffers.

I messed around with it and found that it turns into a rattler if you do not keep the shot from moving or pack it tight enough.  I considered using wax at one point to fill in the empty air pockets but decided to just order the Tungsten(W) powder.  It can make a mess and it is not like Iron(Fe) where you can get a magnet and pick it all back up.

Has any one found a small container that would fit inside the buffer body?
That way you could put the amount of W powder and a weak spring in the assembly for the proper slosh effect.
Or not fully pack the powder in there (oh, that seems to be what Name Brand does).

Containerized powder would be easer to custom adjust (yea... for each load you want to shoot).

But over time, wouldn't the lead deform and compact together? This negate it from moving like the weights on a regular buffer or the powder in the spikes buffer.

Beats me. But if it compacts together into a lead clump, wouldn't it act like a regular buffer weight?

I'm not sure that the lead clump would move around as freely as it needs to.

I wouldn't use the powder, i would use the tungsten spheres....they make em smaller but here is an idea...1.5mm is the smallest this place has.

Done that. Not satisfactory. I then bought an H3 from BCM and used that to make an H2 and an H. They function better than the powder or flakes. Just my experience with it.
